So What Does an Estes Park Weddings DJ Cost?
A question we get asked all the time…and here is some advice for couples by an experienced Estes Park wedding DJ here with 1,940 documented weddings personally performed in, and around the area, of Estes Park…including Fort Collins, Loveland, Allenspark, Boulder, Berthoud, Longmont, etc. with the most comprehensive mountain event services for weddings.
A QUICK CHECK BEFORE THE QUESTION…”What Do You Cost?”
Yes, any wedding vendor is very excited that you reached out. We really want to reply to the question “how much do you cost?” however, we need to know you’re actually real. No, seriously.
Here’s what I mean: When a bride fills out a wedding website form with her first name only, or sends an email with “How much do you charge?” or “I need a price quote for my wedding,” a vendor will always hesitate. The fact is, we just need more information. There’s no date. No location. No time. No hours, no outline of the scope of services. No details at all. It’s more than just a guy with Colorado sound equipment and a few lights. All respected and competent Colorado wedding DJs will do some due diligence first, because… believe it or not, we wedding vendors (especially Estes Park wedding DJs and Estes Park photographers) are at the mercy of several very sophisticated scams, cyber phishing techniques and repeated solicitations on a daily basis. These always begin with “How much do you charge?” or “Can I get a price quote?” masquerading as an inquiring bride, and then go from there. The level and volume of scams is crazy!
I promise, the Estes Park wedding vendor’s reply requesting more information or asking for a quick 10 minute phone call isn’t intended to frustrate you, but rather, it’s an attempt to determine if your inquiry is legitimate and a real person, or, is this another fake Estes Park destination wedding in Colorado booking scam, or another deceptive solicitation from so many wedding advertisers. So, the first step is to determine if you are “real.”
That being said…as the top Estes Park wedding DJ, we provide a price range. your wedding, and the price depends on you and your vision.
It’s a lot like calling the doctor with a stomach ache. It could be a muscle strain, cramps, the stomach flu, serious appendicitis, or just a bad burrito. The treatment and prognosis is based on the process of a thorough diagnosis (discovery).
It’s the same with your wedding. Pricing always depends on things like: day and time of the week; season; duration; ceremony and reception location; if we are doing a separate ceremony package or have additional equipment needs (ie adding an extra cocktail hour sound system or sound support for lie musicians); adding (or omitting) lighting and / or specific décor according to your wedding plans; production items added or omitted; the degree of planning and customization for your wedding vision; travel; generator (or remote power) rentals; etc. There are actually 24 key pieces of data that need to be gathered for an accurate Colorado wedding DJ price quote that a competent and professional Northern Colorado wedding DJ will need.
We know most local venues in detail. We know their load in policy, requirements for equipment, etc…and candidly, sometimes what a couple wants, may not be possible per the venue or their policy. They may not understand that the venue or flow with guest count, or they may simply not allow it. But…when a cheaper quote comes in, a couple may not understand the tradeoffs beyond price. (For example, I did a quote today for a bride and 120 guests for her Estes Park wedding at the Stanley Hotel Pavilion. As the Estes Park wedding DJ, I understand what it takes to do the venue and flow “correctly” – literally it takes three different sound systems – not just one. (ie ceremony equipment outside on the front lawn; cocktail hour on a different level in the Stanley Hotel Pavilion; then the main reception and dancing equipment and extra lighting inside). Nothing is more tacky than cheap Colorado DJs who try to do all of this with one sound system, then break it down, moving gear in and around and through guests, knocking over grandma, set it up, and repeatedly doing sound checks with a room full of guests. It not only leaves a lot of dead air time while they move equipment, but this especially makes the couple look bad, the venue look bad and the DJ look bad. It’s very disruptive too! Just because somebody is quoting less, doesn’t mean it’s the same. Cost does not equal value. Somebody can always quote less but there is always more than just price to consider.
YOUR PRICE MAY BE MORE OR LESS – it depends on your vision! Just like there are different prices for wedding dresses, styles of cakes, flowers and caterers according to a bride’s vision. So, it all depends on what you want and need.
I personally believe it’s “event malpractice” to provide an event diagnosis (price quote) without a proper prognosis (having an in person discussion, or at least on the phone) first.
We’d love to hear about your big day! We are always ready to help, but sometimes we just need a little more information first…and this can be gathered in a short phone call : )
